Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before booking a vehicle with Ayia Napa Cars.
1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ayianapacars.com website and any vehicle rental booking made through it. By accessing this website or completing a reservation, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in full.
Ayia Napa Cars operates as a vehicle rental intermediary and direct rental provider in Ayia Napa, Famagusta district, Cyprus. Our services are available to individuals and businesses seeking short-term and long-term vehicle hire, including pickups from Larnaca International Airport (LCA), Paphos International Airport (PFO), the Ayia Napa marina, and hotel delivery across the Famagusta coast including Protaras and Pernera.
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. The version published at the time of your booking shall apply to that booking. Continued use of this website after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Eligibility Requirements
To rent a vehicle through Ayia Napa Cars, you must meet the following eligibility criteria at the time of pickup:
Minimum Age
The minimum rental age is 21 years for standard economy and compact vehicle categories. Drivers aged 21 to 24 may be subject to a young driver surcharge, which will be displayed clearly at the time of booking. No additional deposit is required from young drivers. Premium categories, including large SUVs, people carriers, and convertibles, require the main driver to be at least 25 years of age.
Driving Licence
A full, valid driving licence held for a minimum of 12 months is required. Licences issued in EU member states, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia are accepted without further documentation. Drivers holding licences issued by other countries must present an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside their national licence. Cyprus drives on the left; if you are unfamiliar with left-hand traffic, we recommend practicing before exploring routes such as the Cape Greco coastal road.
Identity Document
A valid passport or national identity card must be presented at vehicle collection. This is required for all named drivers on the rental agreement.
Additional Drivers
Additional drivers may be added to the rental agreement for a daily fee per person. All additional drivers must meet the same eligibility requirements and be present at pickup with their licence and ID.
3. Bookings and Cancellations
Reservation Process
Bookings are made online via the search and booking widget on this website. Once you complete the reservation form and payment, you will receive a booking confirmation by email within a few minutes. Same-day bookings are accepted subject to vehicle availability.
Free Cancellation Policy
You may cancel your booking free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled pickup time. Cancellations made within 48 hours of pickup may incur a cancellation fee equivalent to one day's rental at the rate confirmed in your booking. To cancel, please contact us at [email protected] with your booking reference.
No-Show Policy
If you do not collect the vehicle within 3 hours of the agreed pickup time without prior notice, the booking will be treated as a no-show. No refund will be issued for no-shows. If your flight is delayed, please contact us using the details in your confirmation email so we can hold the vehicle.
Amendments
You may request changes to your booking dates, vehicle category, or pickup location by contacting us. Amendments are subject to availability and may result in a price adjustment. We will confirm any changes in writing before they take effect.
4. Pricing and Payment
Displayed Currency and Rates
All prices displayed on this website are in Euros (EUR) and are inclusive of VAT at the applicable Cypriot rate. Rates are quoted per calendar day. The total price shown at the checkout stage includes all mandatory charges for the selected vehicle category and rental period.
What Is Included
Every booking includes: unlimited mileage, basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) insurance, Theft Protection (TP), third-party liability insurance meeting the minimum requirements under Cypriot law, and 24-hour roadside assistance. There is no security deposit required and no credit card block. You pay only the rental fee.
Optional Extras
The following optional items are available at an additional daily charge and must be requested at the time of booking or at pickup:
- Child seat (infant, toddler, or booster) - available free of charge on request, subject to availability
- GPS navigation device
- Additional driver
- Zero excess upgrade (Super CDW) - removes your liability for damage or theft
- Wi-Fi hotspot device
Fuel Policy
Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than at collection, a refuelling charge at the prevailing local pump price plus a service fee will apply. We recommend refuelling before returning the vehicle along the Nissi Avenue service road or at one of the petrol stations near the Larnaca highway interchange.
Payment Methods
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, and other major debit and credit cards. No cash payment for the rental fee is accepted online. A debit card is fully sufficient to complete your booking - no credit card is required and no deposit hold is placed on your account.
5. Vehicle Use Rules
Permitted Use
The rented vehicle may be used only on public roads in the Republic of Cyprus that are maintained and surfaced. You are free to travel throughout the government-controlled areas of Cyprus, including Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos, and the full Famagusta coast from Ayia Napa to Paralimni.
Prohibited Activities
The following uses are strictly prohibited and will void any insurance coverage included with your rental:
- Off-road driving, including on unmaintained tracks, beaches, or dirt paths
- Use in any form of motor sport, racing, or timed driving event
- Subletting or transferring the vehicle to any person not named on the rental agreement
- Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that impairs ability
- Use for the transportation of goods for commercial hire or reward
- Towing any trailer, caravan, or other vehicle
- Travel to the northern part of Cyprus not controlled by the Republic of Cyprus
- Intentional damage, arson, or any criminal act involving the vehicle
Care of the Vehicle
You are responsible for checking tyre pressure, oil, and coolant levels during extended rentals. Any mechanical faults discovered during the rental period must be reported to us immediately. Do not attempt to repair the vehicle yourself. In the event of an accident or theft anywhere on the island - including in Protaras, Cape Greco, or the Konnos Bay area - you must notify the local police and obtain a police report reference number before contacting us.
6. Insurance and Liability
Basic Coverage Included
Every vehicle rental includes CDW and TP as standard with no extra charge. This reduces your financial liability in the event of accidental damage to the rental vehicle or theft of the vehicle. Basic CDW carries an excess of up to EUR 800 depending on vehicle category, meaning you are liable for the first EUR 800 of any damage claim. Third-party liability insurance is included in full with no excess and meets the statutory minimum requirements under Cypriot insurance law.
Zero Excess Upgrade
You may upgrade to our Super CDW (zero excess) package at booking or at pickup for a fixed daily rate. This upgrade eliminates your financial liability for damage to the rental vehicle and theft, subject to the exclusions listed in the rental agreement. It does not cover personal injury to the driver or passengers, personal belongings left in the vehicle, or damage arising from prohibited use as listed in Section 5.
Exclusions
Insurance coverage, whether basic or upgraded, does not apply to damage caused by: driving under the influence, use on prohibited terrain, deliberate acts, or breach of these Terms. In such cases, the full cost of repair or replacement will be charged to the renter.
Personal Belongings
Ayia Napa Cars accepts no liability for loss of or damage to personal belongings left in the vehicle. We recommend that you use your personal travel insurance to cover valuables.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Cypriot law, Ayia Napa Cars shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use or inability to use the rented vehicle, including but not limited to loss of earnings, loss of enjoyment, or additional travel costs incurred due to vehicle breakdown or delay.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with a booking shall not exceed the total rental fee paid by you for the specific booking to which the claim relates.
Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
We do not guarantee that the website will be available without interruption or that it will be free from errors. We shall not be liable for any loss resulting from reliance on information provided on the website that later proves to be inaccurate.
8. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Cyprus.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or from a vehicle rental agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Cyprus. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you may also refer a dispute to the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be deemed severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
